TITANIC (1997)
Titanic is a gigantic movie on its scale. Titanic is one of the most successful movies in the world. It also boasts as one of the most expensive films ever made and a worldwide blockbuster hit.
Titanic is an Academy Award or Oscar winning romantic drama film focuses on the fictionalized love story of Jack Dawson (Leonardo Di Caprio) and Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet) and the sinking of RMS Titanic directed by: James Cameron. Titanic holds the record of winning 13 Oscars which the movie shares with Ben-Hur (1959) and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (2003). It also holds the record of the number one worldwide box office hit until another Cameron film Avatar beats it.
Titanic is a period costume drama film. It's fascinating to see the costumes used I'm te film as well as the production designs. I'm not really a fond of Iove stories. I find Titanic thrilling. My concentration while watching the movie is not on the love story but on the survival of the passengers. At some point, before the thrilling part of the film, we can see that Rose and Jack are star-crossed lovers like Romeo and Juliet. Rose is the rich girl while Jack is an impoverish boy. In a way, this kind of plot is very predictable especially towards the end when Jack sacrificed his life for Rose.
Music is hauntingly lyrical. The soundtrack "My Heart will go on" captures the emotions of audience because it expresses the undying love of two lovers Jack and Rose.
James Cameron's direction is superb. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet both stands out in their star-making role. They will always be remembered by their fans because of their unforgettable characters and portrayal. Kathy Bates as Molly Brown brings the effervescent role in a different approach.
Titanic is a delectable treat to watch for!
